Microsoft 365 – A5 Licence Availability Issue

We have (again) temporarily run out of Microsoft 365 A5 licences. Additional licences have been ordered, but until Microsoft provides them we are unable to assign A5 licences to users. This may result in affected users being unable to access Teams, their mailbox, and Microsoft 365 apps.

Worktribe - Intermittent Authentication Issues

We’re aware of a potential issue affecting a small number of users when logging in to Worktribe. Clearing your browser cache and DNS cache should resolve the issue. We are monitoring the situation and will provide updates if needed.

UniDesk - Unable to Connect via the Windows App

The scheduled February 2026 Windows updates are due for release on 10 February 2026, and we hope this issue will be resolved at that point.

In the meantime, users can continue to access UniDesk by logging in through a web browser at https://virtual.bath.ac.uk.

File Storage - Phased Migration

We are carrying out a phased migration of on-campus file storage from our existing systems to new storage solution. This work will take place over several weeks and may cause planned, temporary disruptions to some shared file services.

This migration moves file storage onto a modern, fully supported platform, improving reliability, security, and long-term sustainability of shared file services.

Further updates will be provided as the migration progresses.

Rapid7 - Agent Rollout (Non-DDaT Systems)

Following a successful pilot within DDaT, the Rapid7 vulnerability management agent will be deployed to selected systems within Library, Teaching and Learning, and Marketing and Digital as part of the University’s cyber security improvement programme.

Network (Ethernet & Wi-Fi) - Upgrade in Norwood House

We are replacing end-of-life Network (Ethernet & Wi-Fi) equipment in this location to improve connectivity, security, and enable new features. Users may experience brief interruptions (around 1 minute) to both wired and Wi-Fi connections during this upgrade.

GlobalProtect VPN - New Client Access Restricted

Network - Partial Loss of Connectivity in 2 West

The fault has been identified and fixed. The issue was caused by a faulty network component, which has now been replaced. Services have been confirmed as operating normally again.
