We will be carrying out emergency maintenance on the systems that support the University’s wired network, Wi-Fi, VPN, and internet connectivity.

The work will take place across the following maintenance windows:

• Tuesday 27 October, approximately 07:00 to 13:00: Wi-Fi infrastructure
• Tuesday 27 or Wednesday 28 October: Network authentication services
• Thursday 29 October, approximately 07:00 to 08:00: Internet and firewall infrastructure

Brief interruptions to network services are expected while equipment is updated and restarted. This may include temporary disruption to Wi-Fi, wired network access, VPN connections, and internet connectivity.

Most interruptions are expected to be short. Wi-Fi access points will restart in a controlled sequence, while internet connectivity may be interrupted for approximately 30 seconds during firewall updates. Affected devices should reconnect automatically.

This urgent work is required to apply critical security updates and protect the University’s network infrastructure, systems, and data.
