Data Centre Network Migration - Server Moves 2nd - 5th June

Network - Switch Restart in 4ES

A network switch located in 4ES requires installation of the latest firmware version to enhance security features and maintain support. The affected Switch has to be restarted as part of the process. The restart will occur automatically in the early hours, so we expect no interruption to service (unless a fault occurs).

From 08/06/2026, users of University‑managed Macs will see a new option in Jamf Self Service to register their device with Microsoft Intune.
This is a one‑time step that takes only a few minutes to complete and will not affect your applications, services, or sign‑in experience.
To complete the registration, open Jamf Self Service, navigate to the Device Compliance section, and run “Register with Microsoft Intune”, then sign in when prompted.

Wi‑Fi (eduroam) - Network Configuration Update

We will be making a small change to the eduroam Wi‑Fi network as part of ongoing improvements to network security and segmentation.
During this change, some users may experience a brief interruption to their Wi‑Fi connection as devices automatically reconnect to the network.
This update will help improve the security and management of network traffic, with no changes to how users access or use Wi‑Fi services.
No downtime is expected, and any disruption should be minimal and short‑lived.
Windows 11 - New Sign-In Experience Rollout

The University will begin a phased rollout of a new sign-in experience for compatible Windows 11 laptops from 1 June 2026, starting with DDaT staff, followed by a wider rollout from 15 June 2026.
Users will be prompted to set up a PIN at sign-in, with the option to use fingerprint or facial recognition where supported. Password sign-in will remain available as a backup.
