Wi‑Fi - Core Infrastructure Upgrade
Maintenance
May 6, 2026 at 6:00am UTC
We will be upgrading the wireless core network to a newer, vendor‑supported operating system. This is essential maintenance to ensure the University’s wireless services remain secure, stable, and fully supported.
The wireless core is designed to be highly resilient and to smoothly transfer devices between network hardware during upgrades. However, during this maintenance window, some users may experience a brief loss of connectivity to wireless networks, including in‑room access points and SD‑WAN‑connected remote sites (such as mPharm in Plymouth).
Any disruption is expected to be minimal and short‑lived, and the work will be closely monitored throughout to ensure services are restored promptly if affected.
Once complete, this upgrade will improve the reliability, resilience, and long‑term stability of the University’s wireless network, helping reduce the risk of future issues.
