The University will begin a phased rollout of a new sign-in experience for compatible Windows 11 laptops from 1 June 2026, starting with DDaT staff, followed by a wider rollout from 15 June 2026.

Users will be prompted to set up a PIN at sign-in, with the option to use fingerprint or facial recognition where supported. Password sign-in will remain available as a backup.

This change introduces a faster and more secure way to access University devices, aligning with modern security standards and supporting the wider Windows 11 rollout.

No downtime is expected, and the setup process will be quick and completed during normal sign-in.
