We will be introducing automatic expiration for sharing links in SharePoint and OneDrive to improve data security.

Currently, sharing links remain active indefinitely. Following this change, new links will expire after 180 days by default, with users able to set a custom expiry of up to 365 days when sharing files.

This update reduces the risk of unintended long‑term access to content by ensuring links do not remain active longer than necessary, supporting stronger data security and governance.
